La mai bine de o luna de la lansarea ultimului sau single: Starships pe care am avut placerea sa vi-l prezint AICI, Nicki Minaj a lansat mult-asteptatul videoclip al piesei in cauza, single extras de pe albumul Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
Single-ul Starships a fost produs de catre RedOne, cel care a produs nenumarate hituri pentru artisti precum: Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull si Enrique Iglesias.
Nicki Minaj a declarat:
There was so much love surrounding the making of the song, because RedOne is just so sweet to work with. He just sent me that one day and he said, ‘Hey, I got something for you!’ I was like ‘You got to be kidding me, right?’

Nicki a povestit cum a fost creata piesa:
I went to the studio and started writing – scratch that – I didn’t even write the first verse! That was just me mumbling and just saying the first thing that came to my head, and we recorded it, because I just felt …like let’s go to the beach …let’s go get away …It was just so good. It feels good!
Videoclipul a fost regizat de catre Anthony Mandler, filmarile videoclipului au avut loc in martie pe plaja Oahu din Hawaii, unde artista si-a expus tot ce are ea mai de pret, adica posteriorul extrem de bogat. Artista apare dintr-o nava spatiala pe plaja, imbracata in costum de baie si incepe sa cante.Este un clip plin de culoare asa cum suntem obisnuiti de la Nicki Minaj care per total arata binisor.
Din pacate clipul ar putea fi insa cenzurat pe micile ecrane, mai ales ca a fost lansata varianta expicita: “Ar putea fi prea obraznic pentru TV“, este de parere Minaj.
